Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs
Softball cricket has always been a part of the Guyanese culture in so much that immigrants to North America and especially here in Toronto, Canada, were determined to keep the grassroot sport alive despite the usual short summer. After a few “pick and play games”, softball cricket took off in Toronto in the '90s.
As the games became more competitive, some of our ex-pats had the vision to form a league that caters mainly to the matured players, aged 40 years and up, and in 2000, the Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs (OMSCC) was founded.
The League started off with four teams, Guyana Sports Club, All-Stars, Silver Knights and Kitty- Campbellville Sports Club. As the years went by, the OMSCC expanded as more cricketers choose to join an organization that strives to promote the game with integrity and true sportsmanship.
The number of teams in the OMSCC has since increased by leaps and bounds, boasting both Over-40 and Over-50 divisions, the latter introduced in 2010, so that the elderly folks are afforded the opportunity to continue playing their childhood sport.
Another significant milestone that started in 2012 was the introduction of annual inter-county games comprising of players from their place of birth, Essequibo, Demerara, and Berbice. During the same year, the OMSCC participated in international softball cricket tournaments that were held in the US and Guyana and for the first time in 2015, the OMSCC proudly hosted a similar and quite successful tournament in Toronto.
As an organization, the OMSCC’s vision is not only about the promotion and playing of Softball Cricket.  In 2016, the OMSCC established a Care Fund for the purpose of providing charitable donations to individuals and organizations in need.  By establishing this Care Fund and thru the continued promotion of Softball Cricket, OMSCC will continue to achieve its goal of encouraging and fostering a sense of community among all Cricket enthusiasts.
The Toronto Cup is an ongoing tournament we have every other year. It was first hosted in 2015. followed by 2017 and 2019, all three being tremendous success.
The OMSCC welcomes your contribution for the continued growth of softball cricket in North America.
